It’s also double the size of the money that YouTube said it paid to the music industry in the calendar year of 2019 ( $3 billion). That $6 billion payout figure marks a $2 billion increase from the $4 billion contribution to music rightsholders that YouTube said it paid out in the prior-year period (the 12 months to end of June 2021). News of YouTube’s subscriber growth comes just two months after the platform announced that it had paid music rightsholders over USD $6 billion in the 12 months to end of June 2022. ![]()
